  Handel's Messiah Palau de la Música Catalana

  With the Messiah, Handel moved away from his other oratorios, which were of a clear Italian influence, to embrace ancient passions and German cantatas. Composed in London in 1741 in just three weeks, the Messiah has traditionally been linked with Christmas, although the oratorio really runs through the life of Jesus. This month of December, the Palau de la Música Catalana will be the wonderful setting of this magnificent work, by the Vespres d'Arnadí and Xavier Puig.

  Family activities and concerts at the Palau

  It is now 15 years since the Palau de la Música Catalana introduced its Cycle of Family Concerts at the Palau, an initiative whose goal is to kindle the passion for and appreciation of music to the youngest members of the household. These are shows conceived and created so that music interacts with other forms of artistic expression such as dance, theater, poetry or the plastic arts, aimed at encouraging the curiosity, imagination and creativity of young and old alike.

A wide range of concerts, created for children and designed to make their first musical experience unique and special.

  Family concerts at Petit Liceu

  The Petit Liceu is an initiative of the Gran Teatre del Liceu to bring music to the youngest members of the family. A program that features all-time classics, adapted for the whole family to enjoy.
  Some performances of the shows Miralls, Trencanous-Jazz, La cuina de Rossini and La nit de Sant Joan offer pre-show and participatory workshops for families with tickets for the show.

  Vivaldi's Four Seasons Palau de la Música Catalana

  There are classical music pieces that are universally recognizable even to an audience not well-versed in this type of music. These are masterpieces of classical music history that have reached us thanks to their sensitivity, poetry, and harmonious melodies. The Baroque Orchestra Vespres d'Arnadí and Silvan James bring one of them to the Palau de la Música Catalana: Vivaldi's Four Seasons.

  A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens

  The Amics de la Unió Children's Choir together with the Symphonic Orchestra of the Gran Teatre del Liceu, the soprano Ana San Martín and the Tenor Albert Mora will convey to us all the depth of Charles Dickens's famous tale "A Christmas Carol". The ghost of Christmas past, present and future visits Scrooge and forces him to reconsider the type of life he is leading. This is a very special concert with the music composed by Albert Guinovart and the "Arte con Arena" poems by Borja González.

  Johann Strauss Grand New Year's Day Concert

  Inspired by the traditional concert held in Vienna on 1 January every year, this New Year's Day Grand Concert in which the Strauss Festival Orchestra will perform Strauss's best waltzes, polkas and marches returns to the Gran Teatre del Liceu. Napoleon, Flower Festival, Klipp Klapp, The Emperor Waltz and Champagne. The most famous waltz of all will also be in the repertoire: The Beautiful Blue Danube. So too will the Radetzky march which usually draws the evening to a close to the thunderous applause of the public. An unmissable event thanks to the extraordinary festive atmosphere that envelops it and its popularity with the public. Don't miss out on a ticket!

  Gran Teatre del Liceu Season 20242025

  The Gran Teatre del Liceu is one of Barcelona's iconic venues and among the world's most spectacular opera houses. It begins the new season with an ambitious series of performances. The season will feature major works such as La forza del destino, Madama Butterfly, La Traviata and Lohengrin. The theatre will also be hosting dance performances featuring Afanador performed by the Spanish National Ballet and Hamer by Alexander Ekman performed by GöteborgsOperans Danskompani. There will also be concert performances of works by Debussy, Mahler and Monteverdi. And, finally, families will be able to enjoy the season for kids, the Petit Liceu, which will feature different shows, including La Barcarola and Rossini's Kitchen.
