One of the most famous operas of all time is coming to the
Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona: Puccini's
Madama Butterfly. This tragic story narrates the struggles of the Nagasaki geisha Butterfly (Cio-Cio-San), condemned after being abandoned by the man she loves, the American officer Pinkerton. A masterpiece that stirs the emotions like no other thanks to the intensity of Puccini's music and the libretto by Luigi Illica and Giuseppe Giacosa (with whom Puccini had already created La Bohème and Tosca). Throughout December, Liceu audiences will be able to enjoy this production directed by Paolo Bortolameolli and staged by Moshe Leiser and Patrice Caurier.

With subtitles in Catalan, the event offers a unique experience for opera lovers, culminating in the celebrated chorus Va, pensiero at the ever-impressive Palau de la Música Catalana.
Carmen de Bizet Palau de la Música Catalana
Carmen, the famous opera by Georges Bizet, comes to the Palau de la Música Catalana in a staged version in two acts and subtitled in Catalan, Spanish and English. Under the musical direction of Adolf Gassol and the artistic direction of Sergi Giménez, the Orquestra NovAria Filharmonia, together with the Cor NovAria and the Ballet NovAria, will perform this exciting work, bringing a cast of soloists and more than sixty performers to the stage.
