RBA group building
RBA Editores is a leading Spanish publisher of magazines, partworks and books. Founded in 1991, it has offices in fifty countries and publishes in twelve different languages.
The head office of RBA is housed inside a sustainable building designed by MBM Arquitectes. It consists of two distinct structures connected by a large landscaped terrace, with a grove of cork oaks and other plant species.
The façade of the RBA building is clad in innovative glazed-ceramic panels that remind us of the old brick factories in Poblenou.
Prefabricated materials were used in order to reduce the waste produced during the construction of this sustainable building. A number of energy-saving measures were also adopted, such as ventilated façades tilted in different directions to take advantage of the natural light and protect them from the sun using a brise-soleil system. The building also has photovoltaic panels and sensors that detect the level of solar energy inside the building and regulate the light.
RBA's corporate building is situated in the 22@ business district and has obtained the highest environmental certification, due to its efficient design and energy consumption. This is why we have included it on our Barcelona Sustainable Buildings Trail.
