The exhibition Counterpoint at La Virreina Centre de la Imatge presents a monographic selection of the works of Sergi Aguilar (Barcelona, 1946), who since the seventies has been working in parallel in photography and sculpture. His photographic work is a profound investigation into recurring themes such as the void, sutures in the landscape, and the tensions between appearance, seriality and presence. Aguilar explores architecture and landscapes through frames that isolate elements and expose the naked volumetrics of buildings.

With a title inspired by Don DeLillo's essay, Counterpoint presents the first comprehensive selection of the artist's photographs and audiovisual works. Aguilar challenges the traditional codes of exhibition presentation, breaking with the usual spatial and hierarchical axes. Instead, the exhibition recreates a visual experience closer to that found in the artist's own studio, inviting visitors to interact with the work in a more direct and immersive way.
