Art in stone - Fundació Catalunya La PedreraExhibitions
10/04/2024 - 02/02/2025
During the first third of the 20th century, several sculptors decided to revive direct stone carving, free of molds and plaster, to create profoundly modern abstract works. Now the Fundació Catalunya La Pedrera is exhibiting sculptures by eight artists born between the late 19th and early 20th centuries who were pioneers in the reinterpretation of this technique: Hans Arp, Louise Bourgeois, Eduardo Chillida, Naum Gabo, Barbara Hepworth, Henry Moore, Isamu Noguchi and Jorge Oteiza. The works on display in the Art in Stone exhibition establish a dialogue with Gaudí's building as well as with a selection of sculptures by later artists, clearly inspired by his conceptual approach.
